The Bridges Bike Tour - Dalmeny House
The Bridges Bike Tour - Dalmeny House
The Bridges Bike Tour - Dalmeny House

Our scenic Bridges bike tour takes us beyond the city boundaries of Edinburgh, along the Firth of Forth shoreline to South Queensferry, before cycling over the spectacular Forth Road Bridge. This route is steeped in history and has plenty of picturesque seaside charm. You'll learn about Edinburgh's first iron age settlers and visit the site of a Roman fortress. We'll cycle through the grounds of a Scottish country estate with a it's very own castle and stately home, and marvel in the engineering of UNESCO world heritage site, The Forth Bridges.

Route Description:

Starting our route at a converted iron mill on the banks of the River Almond, we cycle through the affluent neighbourhoods of Cramond and Barnton, until joining National Cycle Route 76. We continue on shared paths through the rural farmland of the Dalmeny Estate, and along the shore of the Firth of Forth estuary, until we eventually arrive in the picturesque village of South Queensferry, where we will stop for picture postcard views of the Bridges.

For the highlight of our bike tour, the route follows the cycle path over the Forth Road Bridge, taking a moment on the middle of the Bridge to take in the spectacular views over the Firth of Forth, the Forth Rail Bridge, and the construction of the Queensferry Crossing - the latest Bridge in the trio to span the Firth. Our route returns back to Edinburgh along National Cycle Route 1, finishing back at the quaint harbour village of Cramond, where at low tide you could take the short walk along the Causeway to Cramond Island.
